The 12th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain (ISPP 2019) took place in Basel, Switzerland, in June 2019. The ISPP Congress promotes scientific, ethical and public awareness related to pediatric pain and contributes to scientific knowledge for the welfare of children and their families.
Working in partnership with the local committee: Any successful congress requires open and continuing cooperation with various parties – including the Local Organising Committee. The Local Committee and the Congress Organiser work together on all aspects of the congress; from sponsoring and marketing to the development of the scientific programme. The better the cooperation, the more successful the congress. But maintaining a successful communication can sometimes be challenging.
How Congrex mastered it
The Local Organising Committee made an early start by organising regular meetings. We quickly began to participate in these meetings, in order to get to know the team and the needs of the congress right from the beginning. Together with the committee, we developed a marketing plan to attract as many participants as possible, and also worked together on the acquisition of sponsors. The Local Committee has good relationships with many potential sponsors and acted as a door opener, which was very helpful. The committee appreciated our administrative support and speedy response to their needs throughout the whole project. In turn, we recognised their full commitment. Together we were able to make the best possible use of each other’s strengths, and the planning process went smoothly and without any major problems.
The result was a successful congress with a substantial number of participants.
