At Congrex Switzerland, we recognise the environmental and social impacts associated with our operations and the events we organise. We are continuously developing our approach to addressing these impacts and acting responsibly.
Our Sustainability Taskforce
As an internationally operating Professional Congress Organiser (PCO), Congrex Switzerland recognises the environmental and social impacts associated with its operations and the events industry. By establishing our Sustainability Taskforce, we are strengthening our approach to environmental and social responsibility – both within our company and in the events we organise.
Our multidisciplinary team, including Sarah Antenen, Yvonne Brüchert, Alise Christoffel, Agnes Dallmer-Zerbe, Lilian Karczmarczyk, Simone Pregger, Silvano Schär, and Holly Shepherd, continuously develops initiatives to address environmental impacts, integrate sustainability considerations into event planning, and raise awareness among employees and partners about responsible practices. We use international frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a reference for our work.
We are currently in the process of obtaining ISO 20121 certification, the international standard for sustainable event management. This represents an important next step in our efforts to integrate environmental, social and economic considerations more systematically into our internal operations and the events we organise.

Are you looking to integrate sustainability considerations into your conference planning?
The way we meet, work and connect has changed significantly over the past 20 years. At the same time, awareness of the environmental and social impacts associated with events has grown. At Congrex Switzerland, we recognise our responsibility to consider these impacts in our own operations and in the services we provide to our clients.
We support our clients in incorporating environmental, social and health considerations into their congress planning. This includes looking at areas such as venue selection, suppliers and other aspects of event delivery where informed choices can make a difference.
As part of this approach, we support Healthy Venues.The Healthy Venues framework provides practical guidance that helps us consider health and wellbeing when selecting venues and planning the overall event experience.
We also advise our clients on incorporating Corporate Social Responsibility considerations into their supplier chains and identifying opportunities to reduce specific environmental impacts associated with their congresses. As every congress has different requirements, we work with our clients to identify relevant measures and integrate them into the planning process.
To strengthen the advice we provide, we continue to develop our knowledge of the social and environmental issues affecting our industry, our clients and the communities in which events take place.
Our own operations are part of this work. Congrex Switzerland participates in the Swisstainable programme at Level I – committed. (Read more in our Press Release)
We are measuring our operational emissions and developing reduction targets and actions. Separately, we support climate projects through myclimate, including renewable energy, reforestation and energy efficiency projects.
