Swiss Hernia Days 2018
Following the success of the first event, the second Swiss Hernia Days took place in the Congress Center Basel, in September 2018. The event offered an ideal platform for hernia experts from around the world to meet and learn from each other. With interactive discussions, state-of-the-art lectures and live surgery, the attendees agreed that this was an engaging and valuable event.
The Challenge
Integrating Live Surgery Into a Medical Congress: One of the highlights of the Swiss Hernia Days – but at the same time a huge challenge – were the live surgeries, relayed live from the University Hospital in Basel. International experts performed hernia procedures, which were shown on high-definition screens to the audience in the congress centre. Our team had to deal with technical, logistical and scheduling issues as well as with the unpredictable nature of any surgical operation.
How Congrex mastered it
To ensure that the live screening of the surgeries went without a hitch we worked with the best technicians, and together we created an individual concept. Before the event we thoroughly tested the screening process and at all times we had a group of technicians on-site, ready to respond in an emergency. The five-hour live surgery session was a great success and the audience was able to enjoy the screening without interruption.
