The 25th edition of the ESRS conference took place between 22 and 24 September 2020. The event was initially planned to be held in Seville, Spain, but Congrex played a key role in helping the organiser develop and deliver it via an online platform.
ESRS is organised on an annual basis by the European Sleep Research Society, which was established in the 1970s. From its headquarters in Germany, this not-for-profit institution promotes cutting-edge research in sleep science and promotes best practices in addressing sleep disorders. The ESRS’s goals are improving the quality of life of people affected by sleep disturbances and contributing to better public health.
Congrex assisted the European Sleep Research Society in the process of creating an engaging event and exhibition in virtual format. The content was delivered in four separate but simultaneous streams, which approached sleep medicine from the perspectives of psychiatry, neurology, paediatrics, and biology. In addition to keynote lectures, case discussions, and oral tables, the virtual programme featured an e-poster library and a networking lounge that remained available throughout the event.
ESRS 2020 had a virtual audience of 1,700 participants. The conference was held alongside a virtual exhibition, which gave participants the opportunity to interact with 12 exhibitors.
