ECCMID 2019
The twenty-ninth European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) achieved a new attendance record in 2019. Over twelve-thousand people attended the conference in Amsterdam in April.
The Challenge
How to Schedule Staff Successfully: Due to the large number of participants, more registration desks were required to prevent long waiting times. Of course, these extras desks had to be staffed with extra personnel, and with another major conference taking place at the same time as ECCMID, staff scheduling had become a serious challenge.
How Congrex mastered it
Early staff planning is essential to get the most out of the available resources. Some of our staff members transferred from one congress to another and performed admirably at both events. We also had help from Congrex staff from other departments who were also familiar with the registration process. The congress project manager informed and trained our staff about the special requirements of the congress and was on-site throughout, supervising the registration desks. This ensured the registration experience was swift, efficient and as problem-free as possible.
