Congrex Switzerland Medical Knowledge Exchange Programme in India

von | Feb 25, 2016 | Blog

The exchange of knowledge between cultures is continually being improved, leading to the mutual benefit of all participants.

Since 2009, Congrex Switzerland has been promoting and running well organised medical knowledge exchange programmes in India. Cutting-edge medical knowledge from European and American Doctors is communicated to participants in small meetings. This allows all parties to exchange information directly with Indian Doctors and among themselves.

[blockquote text=“FROM THE EUROPEAN POINT OF VIEW IT WAS INTERESTING TO EXPERIENCE THAT PARTS OF THIS ACADEMIC EXCHANGE INCLUDED RITUALS OF FRIENDSHIP. LIGHTING A CANDLE TOGETHER WITH OUR INDIAN COLLEAGUES WAS A STRONG AND VERY POSITIVE GESTURE, WHICH ADDED TO THE FASCINATION OF THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE.“ text_color=““ width=““ line_height=“undefined“ background_color=““ border_color=““ show_quote_icon=“yes“ quote_icon_color=““]

This medical knowledge exchange programmes enables participants to have fascinating and candid discussions as the medical perspectives and possibilities available in India are very different from those found in Europe and the U.S. This type of experience challenges the European and U.S. Faculty to view their perspectives differently and perhaps see things in a new light. This certainly adds value to the exchange.

Here is part of a report on two speakers who addressed one of the exchange programmes:

  • It is a great pleasure for us  to report on a very successful symposium which was held in Mumbai, India. The Knowledge Exchange Programme “Brain 2016” consisted of three topics: Stroke, Epilepsy and Migraine.
  • The conference was well attended by more than 200 neurologists who came from various regions of India. The purpose of the meeting is to have an active exchange between the Indian doctors and the European Speakers.   After each lecture a very lively discussion was started by a very enthusiastic audience, eager and keen to acquire and exchange knowledge. Especially, Indian stroke specialists presented challenging cases with difficult treatment decisions and these cases were discussed in detail.
  • From the European point of view it was interesting to experience that parts of this academic exchange included rituals of friendship. Lighting a candle together with our Indian colleagues was a strong and very positive gesture, which added to the fascination of the whole experience.
  • The Indian speakers completed the scientific value and knowledge exchange of this Symposium.”

Medical Knowledge Exchange Programme

We believe that learning about and meeting people of different cultures is a great way to develop an appreciation of cultural diversity. One of the best ways to understand other cultures is to actually experience an exchange of knowledge and information with people of other cultures. This leads to an increase in overall knowledge and can lift the sciences to a higher level.

For you personally, you might discover a new and different approach or solution to something you’ve been working on just by learning how professionals in other cultures handle similar challenges. In India for example, physicians see more than 100 patients in a day, which makes their treatment methods very different from those used by Western doctors.

To gain more specialised knowledge, this type of programme offers great opportunities. While taking advantage of what the programme offers, professional friendships can develop, opening up new possibilities for communication and collaboration.

We at Congrex Switzerland, one of Europe´s leading Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) and Association Consulting Expert believe in this type of undertaking and encourage more professional societies to initiate exchanges of knowledge by implementing similar programmes. We can certainly help in this endeavour as we have the expertise to initiate and organise such programmes.
