In our workshop, we analysed what conference formats Millennials and the Gen Y require.
It is well known that the way to engage with Millenials and the Generation Y attendees is different and that their expectations of a congress include interactivity, new learning formats and state of the art digitalisation. To meet these special requirements, Congrex Switzerland has supported the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) in organising a Generation Y Workshop.
Gen Y workshop: the conference formats that Millennials and the Gen Y require
The workshop took place during the MSParis2017 – 7th Joint ECTRIMS-ACTRIMS Meeting, 25 – 28 October 2017 in Paris. Eight young physicians who represent active abstract authors had been invited to join the session on Friday, 27th October 2017.
The ultimate goal of the Gen Y workshop was to develop in a short time usable work results and to receive valuable information about the congress formats that the Gen Y requires.
The participants worked in small groups on different main topics: session formats, digital future and communication & networking opportunities. Working in small groups provides the best possibility to have a significant level of integration and the involvement of all participants as valuable resources of experience and knowledge.
Our team member Christina Goetze had the lead in this special project. She was substantially involved in all regarding aspects and created a Win-Win-Situation: ECTRIMS was able to collect useful tips how to develop the conference for the future generation and the workshop provided an excellent networking opportunity for the young physicians.
